A voice that touches my soul

Irish singer Aoife Ní Fhearraigh never fails to put me into a trance when I listen to her voice. If you haven’t heard her special magic, find her on YouTube or Pandora.

When I was trying to visualize the mother of my main character in The Blackbird of Kirthgarran I happened to listen to a Celtic CD that included Aoife’s song called Seacht Suailci’ Na Maighdine Muire. I don’t know how many times I played that song, but I knew immediately that this was exactly how Caitlin would sound when she sang with her harp. In my mind Aoife’s voice became Keeley’s mother’s. 

Scenes with Caitlin wrote themselves after that.
